Look I’m 48 years old – i’m just a regular guy – in-fact, less than 2 years ago i was 247 pounds, unhealthy, sitting on the couch eating potato chips.

When I began my transformation I quickly realized the best way to burn off fat was to add some lean metabolic muscle. Now, I’m not talking about “bulking up,” I’m talking about adding fat-free muscle that gives you that hollywood v-taper physique and keeps your metabolism firing at full speed.

That’s why this workout is strategically designed to combine a heavy strength-building power movement with metabolic conditioning – creating an action-ready physique that is both ripped, and muscular.

Let’s get to it.

You will begin the workout with one heavy, strength-building power movement – performing 6 sets of 3 explosive reps using 80% of your 1 Rep Max. For example, if you can lift 200 pounds for 1 all-out rep – you’ll be using 160 pounds for this exercise.

Then you’ll complete 5 exercises performed in circuit fashion, focusing on maximizing metabolic stress and incinerating bodyfat.

For these, you will perform 10 reps of each exercise using 65% of your 1 Rep Max for weighted exercises and repeat the circuit of 5 exercises for as many rounds as possible within 25 minutes!

You are allowed up to 90 secs rest between rounds. Take as short of rest time as needed – push yourself, and do not stop between exercises.

Power Movement:
Exercise #1: Zercher Lunge – 6 x 3 @ 80% 1RM
Keep your arms bent and grab a barbell in the crooks of your elbows – this will take some getting used to for comfort – Next perform walking lunges exploding through the heel of the front foot, back straight and core braced – alternate side to side.

Now it’s time for conditioning – set those timers and let’s get at it!

Conditioning Circuit:
Exercise A: Mountain Climber
Set up in a plank position and drive your knees to your chest one at a time – flex the core and think speed and agility.

Exercise B: Dumbbell Alternate 1-Arm Row
Grab a dumbbell, keep your torso parallel with the floor and pull with your elbow, squeezing your lats as you raise the dumbbell to your hip.

Exercise C: Plyo Push-up Burpees
Jump up as high as possible, then jump back into pushup position, perform an explosive plyo push-up into the air, then jump back to your feet and repeat.

Exercise D: Alternate 1-Arm Kettlebell Swings
Use your hip drive to swing the weight, not your arms. Be powerful aiming to raise the weight to shoulder height. Alternate back and forth each rep, performing 10 reps each arm.

Exercise E: Dumbbell Squat Press
Hold dumbbells at your shoulders, brace the core, keep the knees out and perform a full depth squat going as deep as you can maintaining proper form – then explode up through the heels and drive the dumbbells into an overhead press, lower under control and repeat.

And that’s a wrap!

Blast through that circuit for as many rounds as you can before the 25 minutes is up.
